From USA Today:
CHARLESTON, S.C. — One of the most striking aspects of Barack Obama’s pitch in the Palmetto State, where roughly half the Democratic voters are black, is that it isn’t dominated by the issue of race. It’s about faith.
Through the psalms and verses of the Bible, Obama is seeking to connect with South Carolinians at a deeper place than the color of their skin, a place where belief in modern miracles may linger, including the election of the first African-American president.
There is a simple, if unspoken, plea at the heart of his campaign: that black voters take a leap of faith and stand by his candidacy. “Yes, we can,” is his campaign signature call.
For most of 2007, Obama lagged Hillary Rodham Clinton in statewide polls here, sometimes by big margins. A major reason: Many black voters couldn’t believe white America, even their fellow Democrats, would back an African-American candidate, according to local leaders here.
See, for most of the last year, Clinton was WAY ahead in New Hampshire. Obama was in the lead for about 3 days. I have a feeling about South Carolina. However, I think Hillary has Michigan all wrapped up.
Isn’t that just like a scab?
It’s my understanding that Hillary has Michigan wrapped up because she is the only one bothering with the state with no delegates.
That’s the joke, see?
Also proves she doesn’t give a shit about Democrats.
I really enjoy reading your blog, it always has great insight. But I am very frustrated with the media’s lack of questions to the presidential candidates about global warming.
The Daily Green just put an article out talking about how the presidential candidates are not being asked where they stand on the issue of the climate change – this is surprising to me considering its such a MAJOR concern to people. I just saw a poll on http://www.EarthLab.com that says people care a lot what their next leader thinks about global warming (after you take it they show you the results). Does anyone know of another poll or other results about this subject?
If not, go to http://www.earthlab.com/life.aspx and take their poll to see which way the results go. This is a pretty legit website; they are endorsed by Al Gore and the alliance for climate protection and they have a carbon footprint calculator. No matter which political party you vote for this is an important issue for our environment, our economy and for homeland security.
