My support goes to Representative Ralph Becker for Mayor of Salt Lake City.

becker.jpgFirst of all, Rep. Becker is a seasoned legislator. His push for ethical reform on Utah’s Capitol Hill sets him apart from the field of mayoral candidates. I’ve worked with Rep. Becker over the last few years and I’ve come to know him as a thoughtful, intelligent and practical office holder. As leader of the Democratic Caucus in the legislature, Rep. Becker has perfected his leadership skills and has shown that he is fully prepared to step into the role of Mayor of Utah’s Capitol City.

Salt Lake City, and Salt Lake County, have a strange relationship with the Utah Legislature. The folks on the hill wield an enormous amount of power and influence unique to just the populous area of the Salt Lake valley. Rep. Becker is, in my opinion, singularly qualified to see to the needs of Salt Lake City, but to do it in a way that his relationship with the legislature even more meaningful.

Ralph Becker will make a brilliant mayor, and Salt Lake City will greatly benefit from his leadership.

Other Candidates:

If Ralph gets hit by a bus:

Jenny Wilson: This was hard. I like Jenny Wilson quite a bit. She, however, does not like me, and she is surrounded by people who don’t like me. That, alone, is suspect, because I’m so lovable.

Regardless of that, however, I think that Jenny Wilson would be a good mayor. The only real problem I have is that either Jenny or Holly told the SL Trib’s Rebecca Walsh to GRAMA personal emails from Mayor Anderson to Ted Wilson, Holly and Jenny to score political points. That was unnecessary and cheap and reminds me of former-Sheriff Kennard’s little last minute video stunt last year. If you can’t run a campaign without and score earned media without building a mountain out a personal molehill, how are you going to react to stuff like that when you’re the mayor?

If Jenny and Ralph get hit by a crashing jet airliner:

Keith Christensen: If you’re going to abandon the Utah GOP (and I’m certainly all in favor of that) you don’t hire Jeff Heartly to work for your campaign. It makes the entire gesture seem even more hollow than it first appeared. If you were going to quit the GOP, you should have done it more than a year ago, then we wouldn’t be talking about it now. You were pretty high on my list until that.

NO Endorsement whatsoever:

Dave Buhler: I don’t know who you think you’re fooling with the “Reasonable Guy” act, aside from the media, but, for example, when DeLoy Hansen jumped Mayor Anderson, you couldn’t wait to blame Rocky and you ran to every media outlet to do it, as fast as you could. You do that a lot. You LOVE to take sides against Rocky, just to do it, never taking into account the right and or wrong of it. That’s not “reasonable” that partisan and petty. Hansen was bilking the city for millions of dollars, Councilman, and you should have standing right beside Rocky, outraged, looking out for the city. Instead, as the video proved, you just looked like a jerk.

Oh, and this:

Not cool, Dave.

This was the first picture in your photo gallery. You’re not running for Mayor of Provo, you know?

However, your campaign website was brilliant and your commercials were great, if slightly fictional.
