A couple of days ago, President Bush announced that he believes U.S. troops should have a long term presence in Iraq similar to our presence in South Korea where thousands of troops have been based for the last 50 years. [USA Today, 5/30/07]

Despite the fact that a majority of Americans want a change of course in Iraq and don’t want our troops policing an Iraqi civil war, Bush continues to dig his heels in by sticking to a failed strategy in Iraq.

The brave men and women from Utah, who are serving in Iraq, merit knowing if Cannon and Bishop agrees with Bush’s new Iraq policy about our troops remaining in place over the next 50 years.

Originally the administration claimed that the Iraq war would be short and that Iraqis would welcome us with open arms, but over four years later President Bush is the same old tune, now with a different, and disturbing, ending.

How long will Republicans like Bishop and Cannon continue to blindly follow the President’s misguided strategy on Iraq? And will they continue to put the interests of their party above those of the Americans who want something, hell, anything of a direction in Iraq?

My money goes with a 96% “yes, they’ll continue to keep their heads up Bush’s … sand, no matter what,” even with Senator Bennett’s alter-ego driving the brain these days.
