Reading through the Crawler today, i was nearly knocked from my chair by the force and power of the following quote:
When I asked Democratic Party chieftain Wayne Holland if had [sic] a winner on his hands, he stuck his neck way out:
“I think so.”
BAM! Right out of the gate.
Aside from that, there was a nugget of wisdom in Glen’s post – Someone (not me) said:
One Democratic worker loyalist who has survived too many doomed Democratic campaigns since the golden days of Scott Matheson to be blindly optimistic, told me that Corroon’s single biggest challenge will be to assemble an effective campaign staff. The young members of the party have energy, “but they don’t understand Utah politics.” The older party officials have forgotten how to win.
Bell, your view of Holland’s comment is obviously sour grapes.
Corroon’s campaign is exciting for so many of us and this is all you have to say?
Nice work. You should be proud of your contribution.
John, I’m so sorry you lost the ability to read and comprehend at the same time. That must make eating out with you a terrible burden on your mother.
I’m very excited about Mayor Corroon’s run for Governor. I spent almost half my show on Saturday talking about it, excitedly.
Perhaps, when you take measure of your own enthusiasm, and the enthusiasm of those around you, you’ll see that I was teasing Wayne for his overwhelming endorsement of: “I think so.”
Part of what it’s going to take for Democrats in Utah to start winning is for them to ACT LIKE THEY CAN. Enough bet hedging, enough maybe, enough “meh” and, instead, start acting like they want it and can take it.
Or you can pop over here and take a bunch of stuff I quoted other people saying and staple it to my sweater.
“I fairly good, I’m not dumb, and gosh darn it, people kinda tolerate me.”
Yep, there’s a winning attitude from Chairman Holland and John.
