NPR Utah, KCPW brings Oxford style debate to Salt Lake City.
“Intelligence Squared” debates begin on May 16th.
NPR Utah, KCPW, is proud to announce the airing of eight Oxford style debates from National Public Radio.
“Intelligence Squared” are one-hour programs that follow the traditional Oxford style of debate – one motion, one moderator and three panelists on each side of the argument.
With informed and provocative panelists and strong moderators taking on the hot-button issues of the day, “Intelligence Squared” enlightens, entertains, informs and inflames.
KCPW will air the “Intelligence Squared” debates on Wednesday mornings at 10am beginning May 16th, culminating on July 4th.
Topic Schedule:
May 16 – “Global Warming is Not a Crisis”
May 23 – “Hollywood Has Feuled Anti-Americanism Abroad”
May 30 – “A Democratically Elected Hamas is Still a Terrorist Organization”
June 6 – “We Must Tolerate a Nuclear Iran”
June 13 – “Freedom of Expression Must Include the License to Offend”
June 20 – “Beware the Dragon: A Booming China Spells Trouble for America”
June 27 – “America Is Too Damn Religious”
July 4 – “Better More Domestic Surveillance than Another 9/11.”

I hope that this isn’t another one of those sham debate shows government broadcasters are so renowned for where the producers’ statist bias is reflected in choosing competent spokespersons speaking in favor of the propositions they support, and caricatured, incompetent, or weak spokespersons opposing the propositions.
So … Anon…
You don’t listen to KCPW, do you? A little too busy with images of Oxycontin Addled Limbaugh’s dancing in your head?
How about you STFU, listen to one of these debates, and then complain if you don’t like it? You’re more than welcome to bitch in here when you’re not lumping everything in to your black helicopter dominated “government broadcaster” babble talk.
Thanks for stopping by.
Awww, that’s just cute.
Nah, I finally get to cut loose now that I’m gone.
Look, I don’t believe for a second that you’re a KCPW listener. You may not listen to Limbaugh (KNRS is a weak signal) but, with a comment like that, you’re masking, and that’s adorable.
So, what did you find intemperate? Was it being told to STFU? Or the black helicopter thing?
“I do not regulate or approve reader comments on this blog.”
Methinks a previous post was deleted. Your blog, your right; but why the censorship?
Yep, KCPW is my radio alarm every day, and on my car radio presets. Lara (refugee from the corporate “dark side”) Jones and Bryan Schott are sycophantic shills for the government, but NPR beats the FOXscist-style alternatives. And Blair Feulner seems to bring the right amount of discernment to his interviews.
The government-beholden media has earned the skepticism of being an honest broker of ideas by its audience. But I’m willing to give the new “debate” program a listen if the reviews indicate that it’s different from its predecessors.
Censors also shouldn’t expect further conversation.
I think, as you can see by the fact that I answered your questions, that I didn’t (at least not on purpose) erase your comments.
Be that as it may, where will you find the “reviews” that will make you listen? I think KCPW does a great job at insightful programming, and, I have found that reality has a left-feeling bias.
Also, if they’re government beholden, as you keep saying, how come during the 12 years of GOP control of Congress, including the last 6 of GOP White House control, is NPR and Public television still getting its funding cut and constantly fighting just to survive? How is that beholden? Seems to me the public stations are beholden to donors, not the government.
Did you catch Bill Moyers piece on the complacent press the other day? THAT certainly wasn’t beholden to the government (or the MSM that it sounds like you trust more?).
And, let me get this straight … you’re calling KJQ the corporate “dark side”? Really?
