I can’t begin to describe how hard it was to explain racism to my 6 year old daughter this morning. She just could not wrap her head around the concept and I finally had to stop. I gave her a hug, told her how beautiful she is to me and let her enjoy the optimistic happiness that her mother, myself and her older brother were feeling.

She’s very excited because she voted for Obama on the Nickelodeon website.

“I elected Barack Obama,” she says as she dances around the room. Wonderful.
