This is great news, due especially to the fact that the Rhino releases were over priced and under quality. WHY WHY WHY do I have to wait for OCTOBER? Not fair. Not fair at all.

This past January it was announced that the license for Mystery Science Theater 3000 home video releases would be moving from Rhino Home Video, where DVD releases have resided for the last eight years, over to a new home at the Shout! Factory. Since then, the folks from Shout! haven’t revealed the release plans for their first package, planning a big announcement event in July at the San Diego Comic Con. We’ll probably have to wait until then to get all the specifics of the first release, including the collectible packaging and tons of bonus material (along with the names of the 4 included episodes) but overnight a pre-order listing has appeared at Amazon.com, and it contains some of the basics!

The listing shows that the title is called Mystery Science Theater 3000 – 20th Anniversary Edition. It will be a 4-disc package that is available starting on October 28th…just in time for Halloween. The cost is shown as $69.99 SRP, but as of this writing you can pre-purchase it from Amazon for just $48.99! That discounted price, of course, is subject to change without notice, based on decisions made by Amazon…but that’s what it is right now, as I write this up.
