It’s Freddie Mercury‘s birthday, so, I’m going to say some nice things about him right now.

Mercury was amazing. As a front man, he has few rivals, as a singer, I can’t think of anyone in rock who had his range, and as a lyricist, I think he was genius. I think it’s a shame he had to die like he did, under a stigma of fear and denial. It seems tragic that someone that alive left this world the way he did.

Queen is one of my all-time favorite bands and, as much as Mercury was the front of the band, I’ll always believe that without Brian May, the band would have had a hard time filling a pub, let alone Wembley stadium.

From Wikipedia:

The band is noted for its musical diversity, multi-layered arrangements, vocal harmonies and incorporation of audience participation into their live performances. They are regarded as one of the most accomplished rock acts to ever be on stage

So, in honor of Freddie’s Birthday, here is my favorite Queen song:

And here is my favorite Queen song to sing along with (Remember Vegas, Jake?)
