This AG Gonzo rundown from Bloomberg.com really impressed the hell out of me. Not so much about Bloomberg, but from Senator Leahy and, (not that I think he’s sincere) Senator Specter.

First Leahy:

“You come here seeking our trust,” Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy of Vermont told Gonzales at a hearing in Washington today. “I don’t trust you.”

Good solid statement. But, for more fun, look at Sen Specter:

“Do you expect us to believe that?” Specter said when Gonzales insisted the program at issue wasn’t the administration’s Terrorist Surveillance Program. President George W. Bush confirmed the program’s existence in December 2005 after it was revealed in news accounts.

Wow! Oh, well, then Specter lets Gozo off the hook, because, deep down inside, Senator Specter is just another Partisan Stunt Monkey.

“I am not going to pursue that question because it’s hopeless,” Specter said after Gonzales declined to discuss the dispute, saying he was disqualified because of his involvement in the firings.

Look, there are a lot of great info points in this article, and you should read it. It’s frustrating as hell because it looks like Specter kept yelling at Gonzo, and then shuggingg his shoulders and letting Gonzo off the hook.
