Today’s Salt Lake Tribune reports advocates for Utah’s poor have launched a petition drive to show support for universal health care coverage. Perhaps it is time to put the question another way, who does not deserve health insurance? The working poor? Children of the working poor? Those with chronic diseases like diabetes that often can’t get coverage because they have a “pre-existing condition”? Who does society think worthy of exclusion from the health insurance pool?
The Tribune is doing an online poll that can be found with the article on the petition drive at http://www.sltrib.com/utah/ci_4032004 . The poll just asks whether you support universal coverage. Next time, maybe they will ask those that vote “no” whom they think should go without.
