As it is the anniversary of the birth of our nation under the Declaration of Independence, I do not really feel like playing politics today. On this day of celebration, when our armed forces are fighting for our country in Afghanistan and fighting for their lives in Iraq, I hope that anyone who stumbles across this little post will click on the link below and give a little something to the men and women who so deserve our respect, our gratitude and our love.

Operation Helmet.

If you decide to put your money where your mouth is today, the above link will help supply our troops with armor upgrade kits for their helmets. It is a tiny and near insignificant gesture when you factor in their lack of Humvee armor, lack of body armor, lack of ammunition, lack of proper food, malfunctioning equipment, antiquated weapons systems, lack of ice cream (except for the Air Force, of course), lack of overall safety and, welcome home, being stripped of their veteran’s benefits, (thanks to a Republican Congress who, with no sense of shame, wraps themselves in the flag while cutting billions of the military spending and VA budgets) when you give just a little bit today.

Go on, give a little, or give a lot, just give.
