Last week saw yet another surreal session of our state Government. While the Republican “leadership” passed several favorite bits of legislation, there were victims. The executive branch of Utah’s government got a hand slap after asking for a raise: 4% across the board except for a 23% raise for the Lt. Governor. But, most reprehensible and inexplicable, was the Republicans decision to lock up emergency spending for dental care for more than 60,000 Utahns, by stalling it in committee. The measure wasn’t even allowed a floor debate.
So, you think that the Governor feels put in his place? After seeing his new polling numbers, I just don’t think so.
