It’s Christmas and Congress has been in a giving mood, being anything but a lame duck.

Tax cut and unemployment extensions, repealing DADT, approving federal spending until March, and a new Food Safety Bill.  However, the Dream act was defeated.  Still to come is the START Treaty and the First Responders Bill.  President Obama’s compromise with Republicans on the tax extensions has born fruit above and beyond that initial hurdle.

This gives me hope.  It’s the first time since 9-11 that Congress has come together to do so much so fast, and this time it’s not fueled by fear.  Though not all is perfect, as most of it is a band-aid on a gushing wound, seeing something actually get done in Washington is enough to not throw Congress to the curb.
