I don’t know if you heard this or not, but the keynote speaker for the 2010 Salt Lake County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner is in jail facing federal charges. James O’Keefe, the flash-daddy pimp from such heavily edited videos as “I Dressed Like A Pimp to tackle ACORN” – and three others – including the son of an acting U.S. Attorney, are accused of trying to manipulate the phones in Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu’s office in New Orleans.

You know, because Karl Rove got away with it, why not them?

from CBS

The four men – O’Keefe, the two fake telephone repairman, and another alleged co-conspirator – are now “charged in a criminal complaint with entering federal property under false pretenses for the purpose of committing a felony, announced the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana.” They could face up to ten years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

So, my favorite part of looking up the story was reading this:

Remember, they’re defending your values! YOURS! (Not mine)

And of course, making a screen grab before they pull it down (lets be honest, James Evans would have had that website scrubbed within milliseconds of the arrest):

The more I sit here and type – the more I realize that there is little chance that this will lead to anything from the SLCOGOP. Think about it – the only real sin is getting caught, right? They still love Nixon around here. I guess, while we’re defending values, it’s time to call up former Senator Killpack to talk about public responsibility and the evils of spirited drink.
