I’m not going to go into great detail about what a fan I am of the “lady part*”, nor about how important I think the “lady part*” should be in the context of medical coverage (very). Instead, I’m going to share a couple of quotes from Susie Madrak over at Crooks and Liars in her post from this morning, then I’m going to ask some angry questions. Everyone buckled up?

If only women didn’t have those drippy, icky parts that make God-loving conservative politicians so edgy, politicians wouldn’t be forced to do things like this to us. But women do have those icky parts, and thus we should understand that our job is to hush up – and be grateful for whatever crumbs we get.

Those crumbs, however, do not include routine gynecological care, nor do they include birth control. (Why am I so convinced that somewhere in this bill, Viagra is covered?)

Thanks, Democrats, for standing up for women – again! So far this week, I’ve turned down two fund-raising calls for the state and national Democratic party. At first, I was just angry over the Stupak amendment, but now I know I’m going to have to save that money in case I need a gynecologist.

Now, pretty much anyone who both pays attention and can tell the truth knows that Republican lawmakers have had an anti-“lady part*” agenda since the inception of their party. But, since when do Democrats, the historical champions of women’s rights, sell out a good 60% of their voter base?

Craig, Vitter and Foley are are great examples of Republican “lady part*”-inal incompetence, but, Democrats – I mean, c’mon!  WTF?

Democrats have already ripped the guts and spine out of what could have been a revolutionary piece of legislation in an effort of “bi-partisanship” that had no chance – NO CHANCE – of reciprocation. And by no chance, I mean: Republican’ts and Blue Dogs already said, over and over – for months – that they weren’t going to vote for the bill no matter what concessions they were made. Sen. Orrin Hatch said, to a TV Camera, that Republicans were going to kill health reform for political reasons – and yet – Democrats still rolled over in a fantastic approximation of a terrified, incontinent puppy.

What the hell is the matter with my Party? How can a bunch of Democrats be so afraid of “lady part*”s?

Knock it off – get out there and fight.

* yes, I changed the accurate medical name for the “lady part” to “lady part” because I was told, by someone who gets to tell me to do things like this, that the correct, scientific term for the female reproductive system is course language.
